"AIDS Advocacy Update and Strategy Session"

The trainings will include updates on domestic and global AIDS policy, and a  chance 
to strategize about how to win real improvements in the lives of people with AIDS.
  • When: 7 to 8pm on Wednesday, April 30th

  • Who: YOU and the most influential AIDS activists in the country!

Elections Meeting:
  • Sunday, April 20th from 5-7pm
  • Penn State Room, IMU (337)
  • Have semester dues in at this meeting in order to vote.

Mental Health Discussion
  • What:  Daniel Cole, our Mental Health Committee Chair, will be presenting information about the specter of stigma and what you can do to help reduce the stigmatization of people with mental health disorders.  Following this presentation, Dr. Jennifer McWIlliams, chief resident of child psychiatry at the UIHC, will be answering any questions you have about the field of psychiatry. 
  • When:  April 7th from 7:00-8:00pm.
  • Where:  The Penn State room at the IMU ( 337 IMU) on the third floor.

Medical School Fair
When: February 21st, 2008 from 10am-4pm
Where: Second Floor Ballroom, IMU
Doors open to the public at 10am, admission is free and interested students may ask medical school representatives their questions, and receive valuable information.
Attending schools include: Iowa Carver COM, St. Louis University SOM, Uniformed Services University School of Health Science, Des Moines University, and others. Additional schools have sent recruitment information in place of representatives.

This is your opportunity to ask everything you have wanted to know about medical school... applications, extra curriculars, admissions, and even fields of study. Our panelists couldn't be better! They include the AMSA Junior Trustee at Large, a Carver COM MD/PhD student, the AMSA Humanistic Medicine National Chair, and the President of the AMSA Medical Chapter at the Carver COM- and best of all they are all from the UI!

Candle Light Vigil for World AIDS Day

When?  Tuesday, November 27th at 5:30pm

Where?   Trinity Episcopal Church (320 E. College St) to the offices of Clinton and Giuliani.

Please join Iowans for AIDS Action, and all of the people we work with across the state, for prayer vigils and rallies outside of campaign headquarters to call for each of the candidates to support a plan to fight AIDS at home and abroad. Candles will be provided.
