On World AIDS Day, Monday, Dec 1st  @ 8:00 PM EST, tune into a webcast of a panel discussion on the Feminization of HIV. Join hundreds of students across the US for this exciting high tech panel discussion.  This event will be filmed at Georgetown Medical School, and broadcast across the web with the technological support of Americans For Informed Democracy. Co-sponsored by Physicians for Human Rights and Universities Coalition for Global Health.   Join the Panelists to learn about:  (1) Harm reduction and the marginalization of sex workers and injection drug users (IDU)  (2) Personal experiences from women infected by HIV and the courage they have shown to transcend disease and become figures of empowerment in their communities,  (3) Physician experiences in treating HIV+ women, both young and old, and the challenges they face with protecting female patients throughout their sexual lifetime, and  (4) Domestic HIV/AIDS Policy that is pending in the next presidential administration, and ways in which can we effect change through legislation.

DMU Osteopathic Conference

Friday, October 17th

We will be having a FREE field trip this morning and afternoon to Des Moines University, College of Osteopathic Medicine. as a conference on Osteopathic Medicine. Though this does not fall during the national Primary Care Week, it is in association with the primary care initiative of AMSA.  If you are interested in going, please fill out our webform by October 2nd on our chapter website.

We will be touring the school's facilities, classes, getting hands on practice and demonstrations, and closing with a free lunch!
Also, while in Des Moines, we will be arranging for a lobby day activity that is still in the making.
